A child is fighting for life with significant limb, chest and abdominal injuries from being hit by a car on a residential street .

The young boy was hit on Alesana Dr in Bellbird Park at Ipswich, near Brisbane, about 5.40pm on Wednesday.

Alesana Dr is a residential street with a speed limit of 50km/h.

Queensland Police confirmed the boy was hit while on the roadway.

“The driver of the vehicle is assisting police,” they said.

Multiple paramedics and the High Acuity Response Unit rushed to treat the boy.

He was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

“Investigations are ongoing. There are no further details at this time,” police said.
