A Victorian family have shared how they managed to buy the dream home they once thought was out of reach.

A year ago, father of two Corey Le, 34, thought homeownership was out of reach, with the average price of a home in Australia now passing $1 million.

Le said despite he and his wife working full-time jobs, the couple were unable to get on top of their savings, saying they were only able to make ends meet.

That was until Le joined Airtasker, an online marketplace that enables users to outsource everyday tasks to people looking to earn extra money.

Le and his wife took on extra cleaning tasks, outside their full-time jobs, enabling them to save $60,000 for a house deposit within 12 months.

They purchased their first home in Packenham in regional Victoria this year.

Le said some days he would start at 3.30am and work till 10pm, but he says it was all worth it.
