I tested the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, and at $1700, I gave it a full review of the pros and cons so you can shop confidently.

There is no shortage of attachments when you unbox the Jet Ultra.

The standard head is what Samsung calls the ‘Active Dual Brush’, and for most general vacuuming, this thing does the job with no complaints.

There is a Slim LED Brush that is designed to get into hard-to-reach places like under furniture, and a specific Pet Tool for sorting out pet hair.

The mop head attachment or‘Spray Spinning sweeper’ lets you clean hard floors with a built-in water tank and reusable micro fibre pads.

The All-in-one cleaning station is for me a very neat solution to two problems I have with most stick vacs.

Charging and emptying. Having a home for the vacuum that doesn’t need screwing to a wall or require fussing about with charging cables is a huge tick for me.

The in-built dust bag, though, should not be understated, when you have finished cleaning and return the Jet Ultra to its home, the All-in-one cleaning station opens a little trapdoor and sucks all the contents into a 2L bag leaving the vacuum empty and ready for the next clean.

As someone who is frustrated by bagless vacuums and the amount of dust you have to deal with when emptying it’s refreshing to see bags making a comeback.

Does it suck? (in a good way)

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra comes with five settings for suction power from min to Jet, with a much-hyped ‘AI’ mode in the middle there that Samsung is super excited about.

As you cycle through the different modes, the screen shows you how much battery life you can expect with a somewhat ominous countdown to empty!

I was very impressed with the power from the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, and to be completely honest, I think five levels of suction is a bit excessive. Mid and Max do the job, Jet feels like it could lift a small car, Min is a waste of time, and the AI mode was, well, meh.

Overall, though, it’s hard to fault the cleaning performance of the vacuum, with a unit at this price point, you expect that. However, the mop head did feel a little bit underwhelming.

Ergonomics

The wand is telescopic, no surprises there, and there isn’t a trigger to make it go, just the power button with a plus and minus to skip through the modes.

I loved seeing that the trigger was missing, as in the past using other stick vacs, it can get a bit straining holding down the trigger for a big clean, so huge tick there!

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra is powerful and has a bunch of tech squeezed in, but it does come at the price of weight.

The standard configuration has the unit weighing in around the 3kg mark, and you notice it. Vacuuming out the car with the combination tool does bring the weight down, but it is a bit of a strain by the time you move to the back seats.

Is it AI or nah?

It seems like everywhere you go these days, we are constantly being told that AI is in everything. Sometimes it’s legit, and the products are made genuinely more intelligent and helpful by their AI features.

Other times it feels like the brand is putting an AI sticker on the product to tick a box and say, ‘look everyone! We’re doing the AI thing!!’

In the case of the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, it very much feels like the latter.

The AI mode is marketed to use artificial intelligence to adapt to changing floor types, changing brush speed and suction power to suit.

In practice, though, it’s a bit underwhelming. The adaptive cleaning doesn’t feel ‘intelligent’, it feels gimmicky.

I get it, though. AI is all anyone in tech is talking about at the moment, and Samsung has a bunch of AI features across their new product lineup, some of which are genuinely exciting and impressive like the AI upscaling on their new line of tv’s, or the tightly integrated AI food recognition in their new fridges.

The AI sticker on the side of this vacuum, though, feels like just a sticker.

Similarly, the SmartThings app integration feels like an app for the sake of an app, and aside from being able to let phone calls interrupt your vacuuming, there isn’t much in the app that is blowing my mind.

AI mode promises smart suction, but honestly? Max power still wins – and Jet could probably lift a shoe off the floor.AI mode promises smart suction, but honestly? Max power still wins – and Jet could probably lift a shoe off the floor. Credit: TikTok

Final thoughts

The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra is a very good stick vacuum. And when held up against other machines in the segment, it outperforms a lot of them.

The dock is brilliant, the power is unrivalled, and it really is a great addition to any home. But, and this is an important but, the thing to keep in mind is it isn’t cheap.

Though, $1,700 bucks is a lot for a vacuum but in saying that, it is a very good vacuum. I do think, though, the app for apps’ sake and the AI for AI’s sake is a bit of a shame.
