A passenger wearing what appeared to be a Lime e-scooter helmet was tackled to the ground by flight crew and a member of the public during a dramatic incident at Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal.

The disturbance broke out near Gate 45 just after 11am on Thursday, with the man shouting about missing his flight and attempting to flee.

7News.com.au understands the passenger was denied boarding following disruptive behaviour towards both passengers and crew on an earlier flight.

A Virgin Australia crew member and another passenger restrained him on the ground.

“Our crew responded quickly to a disruptive passenger at Brisbane Airport today, before AFP officers arrived,” Virgin told 7News.com.au.

Footage of the incident, obtained by 7NEWS, shows the man wearing a white T-shirt, green pants, and carrying a large backpack.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) later arrived and took the man into custody.

Brisbane Airport confirmed the incident but said it did not cause any delays.

“Brisbane Airport would like to thank passengers who assisted following an incident at the Domestic Terminal near Gate 45,” a spokesperson said.

“Passengers helped to restrain a man along with crew members until Australian Federal Police arrived.”

Australian Federal Police confirmed their response to a disturbance at Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal at around 11:20am on May 15.

A man was arrested shortly after and transported to the Brisbane Watch House.

“There is no current threat to the community,” an AFP spokesperson said.

Under current aviation security regulations, helmets are allowed past airport security.
