Brisbane goalkicking sensation Logan Morris has turned his back on million-dollar rival offers to re-sign with the club ahead of the final year of his current contract.

The 21-year-old wasn’t due to come out of contract until the end of next year, but has recommitted to the Lions with a two-deal until the end of 2029.

Having kicked 144 goals from his first 69 AFL games, which also includes two premierships, Morris had obvious interest from rival clubs, including Tasmania, who were eyeing the former Western Jets junior ahead of their entrance into the competition in 2028.

But the youngster has decided to forgo any impending speculation surrounding his future, which would have intensified next year had he remained unsigned.

“I absolutely love being part of this club, so I’m really excited to be staying,” Morris said on Tuesday.

“The main reason I re-signed is the culture and the group of boys here at the Lions.

“It was an easy decision to stay when every day you get to have fun and be yourself with a pretty special group who can also do deep in finals each year.

“We’ve obviously been fortunate enough to have some amazing experiences together already, but we’re still really hungry and feel like there’s plenty more we want to achieve as a team.

“I’ve had so many people at the club help me since I was drafted and I feel like I’m continuing to learn and improve every year.

“I’m really excited about where this group is heading and hopefully I can keep getting better and play my role in helping us have more success.”

Morris’s recommitment comes a week after that of in-demand goalkicking midfielder Zac Bailey, who knocked back a godfather offer from the Adelaide Crows to sign a lucrative eight-year extension with Brisbane.

Lions footy boss Danny Daly said Morris’s signature was an important addition.

“Logan has achieved an incredible amount in a short period of time, but the exciting thing for us is that we still think he has so much improvement ahead of him,” Daly said.

“He came into our football Club as a young kid willing to work hard and learn, and he’s quickly developed into a really important player for us.

“What we love about Logan is that he wants to get better. He’s competitive, he loves the big moments and, most importantly, he’s a great teammate who fits really well within our group.

“To already be a two-time premiership player and an All-Australian at his age is a fantastic achievement, and we’re really excited that our members and supporters will get to watch Logan continue his career in a Lions jumper until at least the end of 2029.

“We are also very happy to have Logan, his parents Chris and Alison as well as his sister Casey continuing to be part of the Lions family.”

Morris was taken with pick 31 in the 2023 draft and infamously made his debut the next year as an extremely late inclusion when former Lions defender Brandon Starcevich injured his calf in the warm-up.

Morris had already played in the VFL that morning and didn’t even have his own boots with him at the ground.

But since that game against Gold Coast in Round 8 of 2024, Morris has never left the senior team, becoming the Lions’ most prolific forward.

Veteran defender Dayne Zorko also put pen to paper this week, agreeing to a deal that will see him play on into a 16th season in 2027.
