Two children have been rushed to hospital after a bouncing castle was flung into the air in regional Victoria.

Emergency services were called to a home on Lower Duneed Rd in Mount Duneed, south of Geelong, about 11am on Saturday.

Paramedics confirmed that both Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance and Advanced Life Support crews attended the scene.

Two primary school-aged children suffered upper body injuries and were rushed to Geelong University Hospital in stable conditions.

“The incident occurred during a children’s party at a Lower Duneed Road residential address,” Victoria Police said.

“Two children were thrown from the jumping castle and taken to hospital by road.

“A large number of other children also playing on the jumping castle at the time escaped injury.”

BoM warned of gusts exceeding 90kmh, rain and thunderstorms could batter southwest and northeastern regions of Victoria as a strong cold front moves east across during the day.

Locals in the South West, Wimmera and parts of Central, East Gippsland, North East, West and South Gippsland, Mallee and North Central Forecast Districts have been urged to prepare for the violent weather system.

“Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees,” BoM said.

“Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.

“Stay indoors and away from windows.

“If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.”
