A father has been left heartbroken after his 22-year-old son was shot dead on Father’s Day.

Daniel Hussein was shot and killed outside of a home on Victoria Dr in Thomastown, north Melbourne, about 7.30pm on Sunday.

Among the dozens of family and friends who raced to the scene was Hussein’s father.

“My son was killed on Father’s Day and my birthday,” he told 7NEWS.

Officers cordoned off the street as part of an ongoing investigation. A red ute was seen being towed from the scene soon after.

No arrests have been made and police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
