A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 69-year-old man died from blunt force trauma in Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a home on Winifred Street in Burpengary, north of Brisbane, about 9am on Friday following reports a man was unresponsive inside.

The 69-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering blunt force trauma, Queensland Detective Inspector David Harbison said.

“We do believe some type of weapon or implement has been used and that is still under investigation as is the crime scene with forensic analysis of the scene,” he said on Friday.

He has since been charged with one count of murder (domestic violence) and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Harbison said the two men were known to each other.

Police are not currently seeking any other persons of interest, and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
