Brisbane hero Logan Morris has revealed he played the grand final with a broken back that he carried through the second half of the AFL season.

Morris had a quiet grand final before standing up in the final two minutes with a clutch mark and goal to put the Lions in front before adding another to seal the incredible comeback victory.

The 21-year-old is already destined for superstardom with three premierships in his first three seasons.

He finished his season with 71 goals, including two in each of the four finals this year.

But even more impressive was the fact he did with a serious injury, although he played it down post-match.

“For the last half of the year, I’ve been playing with a small fracture in my back,” he told 7NEWS after the grand final.

“It’s nothing too serious, but it’s been a bit of a challenge trying to juggle it and manage my load and trying to train throughout the week is pretty difficult.

“So to be able to get the reward today, it’s exceptional.”

Morris joins his namesake Dale Morris, who famously played through the Western Bulldogs’ 2016 finals series with a broken back.

The Lions goalkicker admitted he was “nervous” when he lined up for goal with the Lions trailing by five points in the final minute.

“I was a bit nervous rolling in for that set shot,” he said.

“Probably game on the line, to be honest. I was just very proud of myself to go back, be composed and finish it in the end. 

“A few of the boys just said, ‘go back, do your normal routine’.

“I trained throughout the whole year, practised and set shots and I just went back to what I do at training, memorised that ...... I’m a good kick, so I just backed myself in and was able to capitalise on the moment.”

Morris said he and teammates will enjoy the celebrations, but will be locked in to go again next year.

“Not often you win three in a row, so we’ll have fun for a couple of weeks and then lock back in because you’ve got to go again next year,” he added.

Coach Chris Fagan admitted Morris may have got lucky with the brutal injury to Fremantle defender Alex Pearce, who went off early in the third term with an Achilles issue.

“Logan wasn’t having a great day but he certainly didn’t drop his head,” Fagan said.

“He got going in the last quarter. Perhaps he was a little lucky because they lost Pearce to injury.”
