The YouTube channel for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games has inadvertently leaked its official emblem days ahead of time.

Organisers for Brisbane 2032 had been drip-feeding the emblem in a piece-by-piece statewide tour of Queensland, with the full reveal, along with an explainer, set for Monday.

But a preview for the video that is set up to be published on Monday was accidentally made public on Friday night, leaking the emblems three days early.

The since-deleted video’s thumbnail showed the logos for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and explained the meaning behind their composition.

“The Brisbane 2032 Emblems are inspired by the spirited cockatoo – a symbol of Australia’s unique wildlife and playful heart!” the caption read before being taken down.

“The cockatoo’s crest is a living torch, reminiscent of the iconic Olympic and Paralympic flame. Shaped like Queensland, with its eye on Brisbane, the Emblem is a universal symbol to unite Brisbane, Australia and the world in 2032.”

The thumbnail was hastily taken down just after 7pm on Friday, but not before it got into the hands of some sharp Reddit users, who quickly posted it online.

“Did they drop that early? Wasn’t meant to be released until Monday,” one user said.

To which another replied: “Looks like it got leaked somehow, the video is already up and everything so I guess the cat is out of the bag now.”

“Someone’s having an awkward discussion at work on Monday,” another added.

Notwithstanding their prematurity, the emblems received mostly positive reviews.

“Very impressive in how it combines the shapes of QLD, a cockatoo, and the Olympic flame. Fully expected the worst, this is awesome,” one said.

“Honestly much better than I expected. I actually like it,” someone else said.

The slow rollout of the emblems had been creating intrigue amongst keen followers, with the tour visiting Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast.

More emblem reveals are planned in Brisbane this weekend.
