Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer have finalised their divorce - nearly 10 years after they split.

The former couple filed for divorce in 2020 and were legally declared single on September 21, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post’s Page Six.

The documents read: “Judgment of dissolution is entered. Marital or domestic partnership status is terminated, and the parties are restored to the status of single persons.”

US actor Maguire, 51, and jewellery designer Meyer, 49, bifurcated their marital status, meaning the court has given the exes a separate trial to resolve “other issues” in their divorce. The specifics of those outstanding matters are not known.

The judgment was filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday.

The documents read: “The court shall reserve jurisdiction to hear and determine all issues raised by the petition and response herein, other than dissolution of the parties’ marital status.”

Spider-Man star Maguire and Jennifer also agreed to have a private judge oversee any outstanding disagreements as they work towards finalising a larger settlement, according to documents Meyer filed on September 16.

The pair met in 2003 when he was shooting the sport/documentary film Seabiscuit at Universal Studios, and they got engaged in April 2006.

Maguire and Meyer welcomed their daughter Ruby in November that year; they tied the knot in Kona, Hawaii, in September 2007, and welcomed son Otis in May 2009.

In October 2016, Maguire and Meyer split after nine years of marriage, and she filed for divorce in October 2020.

The couple said in a joint statement at the time: “After much soul-searching and consideration, we have made the decision to separate as a couple.

“As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”

Meyer has been engaged to music executive Geoffrey Ogunlesi since August 2024, and they welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, in June 2026.

She previously admitted she and Maguire are still very close.

Appearing on an episode of the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson + Olivia Allen podcast, she explained: “Tobey is my best friend now. We travel together, we do every holiday together, I’m so lucky.

“I literally have the best ex-husband in the world, and I hit the jackpot. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him in my life. I ride for him so hard. He’s so phenomenal.”

Maguire is even on good terms with Meyer’s partner, but she admitted their positive arrangement is the result of “a lot of work”.
