A One Nation staffer has been hospitalised with a broken rib after she was allegedly attacked while wearing One Nation-branded clothing at a major Australian agricultural show.

The woman, who is in her 60s, had just entered the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane and was heading to the One Nation stall when she was allegedly confronted by four people late on Friday morning

In a social media post, One Nation said a “much-valued female member” of its team was allegedly assaulted by three young women and a young man at the Ekka.

“The victim works in an administrative capacity within the party and is a grandmother,” the post said.

The party alleges she was spat on before a man grabbed her, swung her around and punched her, leaving her with a broken rib.

“Pauline and the One Nation team are deeply shocked by the vicious and unprovoked attack on our staff member at this year’s Ekka,” One Nation director James Ashby said.

“Fortitude Valley Police are now investigating the matter.

“Savage attacks of this nature should be condemned from all sides of politics.”

Queensland Police confirmed it was aware of an altercation at the showgrounds on August 14, but said no formal complaint had been made as of Monday.

The woman has since been discharged from hospital.

The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association (RNA), which runs the Ekka, said it had been made aware of the alleged incident by police.

“The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, staff and everyone involved in the show is our highest priority, and this allegation is extremely concerning,” RNA chief executive Brendan Christou said.

“The Ekka is a family-friendly event and we do not condone any form of violence.”

The RNA said it would assist police with their inquiries.

The alleged attack occurred one day after anti-One Nation/Pauline Hanson protests around Australia.

One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce told 7NEWS the alleged attack was “completely outrageous”.

“This person was spat on, they were punched, they have a broken rib, and somehow the virtuous, the enlightened, are the ones who do this,” Joyce said.

He said it was up to the woman to decide whether she wanted to pursue the matter with police, adding: “This is not made up”.

Joyce said political opponents did not have to support One Nation but should accept its place in Australian politics.

“You might not like a conservative party, such as One Nation, but it’s part of the fabric,” he told 7NEWS.

“You can’t just say 25 to 30 per cent of people are all crazy. They’re not. It’s just part of the fabric.”

Joyce said politicians should be able to disagree without wishing harm on their opponents.

“I might not agree with her, but I don’t wish any harm on her,” he said, referring to Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young.

“And I think that we should be afforded the same respect.”

The 2026 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) wrapped up on Sunday after nine days, with the event expecting to welcome around 400,000 visitors through its gates.
