As Chris Fagan considers his future as Brisbane coach, Lions fans made it clear what they want from the now three-time premiership legend.

Chants of “one more year” started up when Fagan walked on stage at the Lions’ Victorian family day at Brunswick St Oval.

After completing his 10th season as coach, capped off with an incredible grand final triumph over Fremantle, Fagan is considering ending his Lions career on the ultimate high.

The 65-year-old is a genuine coaching rockstar, receiving louder applause than any of the Brisbane heroes who pulled off the greatest heist in AFL grand final history.

“We love you, Fagan,” fans screamed out before he spoke.

Fagan referenced the premiership celebrations, that stretched long into the morning for the majority of players.

Video of him riding on the shoulders of star Lions defender Harris Andrews has already gone viral.

“I’ve actually haven’t got much of a voice left today — we had a pretty good celebration last night,” Fagan told thousands of supporters at the spiritual home of Fitzroy.

Fagan hailed the Lions’ fight to come from 17 points behind with four minutes remaining.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of grand finals, and for large parts of it, we looked like we probably weren’t going to win the game,” he said.

“But this group’s got amazing heart and amazing resilience.”

Fagan preparing his Lions for the Dockers’ use of Wharfie Time will go down in Australian sports folklore.

After Patrick Voss seemingly sealed Fremantle’s maiden flag, the club’s in-game activation went into overdrive around the MCG.

But the Lions flipped the script and turned Wharfie Time into their advantage, suddenly bursting out of centre clearance like they hadn’t been able to do for most of the day.

Brisbane slotted four goals in as many minutes to break Dockers hearts and win the club’s sixth premiership this century.

“When they got 17 points up and they played that wharfie thing, our boys fired up and were able to play the best five minutes you’ll ever see in a grand final,” Fagan said.

“As their coach, I’m ever so grateful for their efforts, and I know you’re (the fans) very proud of them too.”

All Lions players managed to make it to Brunswick St Oval, except for youngster Levi Ashcroft, who got “a bit excited”, according to teammate Ryan Lester, in celebrating his second premiership in as many seasons in the AFL.

Ruckman Sam Draper, who kicked a thumping goal in the second quarter of his first grand final, was still in full game kit at the event.

The Lions will fly back to Brisbane on Sunday afternoon before preparing for an official function in the city on Tuesday.
