An accusation that the hero of the Bondi Beach terror attack Ahmed Al Ahmed assaulted his father has been dropped by police.

Ahmed was seen waving to cameras as he walked into the the Bankstown Local Court for a hearing on the charges including assault and intimidation on Wednesday.

The 44-year-old, who has maintained his innocence since being charged in June, appeared overjoyed after leaving the courthouse with all of the charges dropped.

“The law has been served, I’m innocent,” Ahmed told reporters.

His lawyer, Mohamed Sakr, said the incident should have remained “a family matter”.

“There is no wrongdoing that has been committed by my client.

“His innocence, as I indicated, is still maintained and preserved”

While dropping the charges, Ahmed will still have to adhere to a 12-month AVO which restricts him from assaulting, stalking or harassing his father.

Ahmed shot to international fame after putting himself in harm’s way to disarm shooter Sajid Akram of his shotgun during the terror attack which killed 15 people in December.

Ahmed would be shot five times which caused damage to nerves in his left hand, while Akram would later be killed by police.

A GoFundMe launched for the Syrian-Australian garnered more than $2.5 million in donations in just four days, which allowed him to travel to the US for specialist treatment.
