A body believed to be that of a woman has been found inside a suitcase in regional NSW.

Police were called to Wolgon Rd, near Oallen Ford Rd at Oallen — about 61km south of Goulburn — shortly before 1pm Sunday after a member of the public reported finding a body.

Officers arrived and found the body inside a suitcase.

Police said the person was yet to be formally identified but was believed to be female.

The suitcase has been seized for forensic examination as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.
