The post was immediately flooded with likes and congratulatory comments from the NRL world.
“Congrats fam 😍❤️,” Souths teammate Alex Johnston wrote.
“Congrats my Bala,” Brian To’o added.
“Congrats fam!!! So gorgeous,” Millie Boyle wrote on Mercy’s post.
Mitchell and Mercy have been together since they were teenagers, with his family often by his side for the big moments in his career.
Mitchell hasn’t played since Round 11 after suffering a string of back, nerve and calf injuries that have kept him sidelined for months.
However, Mitchell isn’t expected to return for Friday’s crucial clash against the Bulldogs, with teammates uncertain about when he’ll be back on the field.
“We’re actually not sure when he’s back or what the timeline looks like for him,” Junior Tatola said.
Rabbitohs forward Keaon Koloamatangi added: “He came back today, sort of refreshed, I think. Like you said, every game is a semi-final. If we get into the finals and get ‘Trell back, it’s anyone’s game and we back ourselves against anyone with our full team.”
