Anti-drugs campaigner Tony Wood has died after suffering a stroke, with confirmation of his passing coming on Sunday.

Wood made it his life’s mission to raise awareness about the dangers of illicit drugs after his daughter Anna died from taking an ecstasy tablet.

The Sydney schoolgirl was just 15 years old when she passed away in 1995.

Following the tragedy, Tony became a prominent voice in drug education, speaking to countless young people about the unpredictable dangers of illicit substances.

“It’s just a nasty drug,” he said. “It’s idiosyncratic. We don’t know who it’s going to hit and how it’s going to affect them.”

A post on Tony’s Facebook page says he is now with his loved ones.
