We attended BC Supreme Court on Tuesday June 30 and Thursday July 2, 2026. Our lawyer, Lee Turner of Doak Shirreff Lawyers LLP, did an excellent job representing Action4Canada and putting forward the evidence and facts.
Tyson Cook’s lawyer argued that our statements were defamatory, not fair comment, and that there was no public interest served by our online statements that highlight Mr. Cook’s activities and online materials that he made publicly available, even to children.
Thank you to everyone who attended court in support of Action4Canada. Justice Hardwick mentioned at the conclusion of the hearing that given the significant public interest in the matter, reflected by the number of people who attended the hearing in person and online, she would deliver oral reasons for her ultimate decision, in court on Sept. 1, 2026.
We request that you please make a donation today to our legal action fund, to help cover the costs of these additional court proceedings. We need to raise a further $30,000 to cover this as it required a lot of time and effort to defend ourselves against Mr. Cook’s lawsuit, and his original injunction application, and then for us to go on the offensive to apply to have his action dismissed under the anti-SLAAP legislation known as the Protection of Public Participation Act. It was our application to dismiss the action that Justice Hardwick heard on June 30 and July 2.
This is a critically important case in protecting the freedom of speech and expression, the identity of women, and the innocence of our children.
