Two men have been charged with murder after a shooting rocked Sydney‘s west.

Abdullah Bahsa, 38, and another man were allegedly assaulted by a group of men at an apartment on Shale St in Lidcombe about 4am on Monday.

Bahsa was shot in the lower abdomen and rushed to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

The second man was taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hours after the shooting, emergency services were called to Boronia St in Ermington, following reports a car had crashed into a parked vehicle about 1.30pm.

Police allegedly located a firearm in the car and arrested the driver, a 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was questioned and charged with murder, as well as wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

About 8pm, Homicide Squad detectives executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Spurway St, also in Ermington, and arrested a 22-year-old man.

He was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was also charged with murder.

Both men have been refused bail and are due to appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday.

Superintendent Robert Toynton said on Tuesday there was still a number of offenders who police were looking for in relation to the shooting.

“The net is closing very quickly, you should consider handing yourself in,” he said.

On Monday Toynton said there were “strong links to organised crime” in relation to the shooting.

“We need to find out what these people were doing before this interaction they’ve had in the apartment,” he said.

Police said the group entered the apartment block about 11pm on Sunday, with Bahsa arriving home soon after.

Shocked residents said a shot rang out several hours after Bahsa was said to have arrived home.

“It was just one bang — a very loud one,” one local resident told 7NEWS.

Investigations into the alleged murder are ongoing and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police.
