Australians love sharing their thoughts about the Prime Minister online, but Sydney mortgage broker Joseph Daoud is offering you the chance to do it in person.

Earlier in the year the 35-year-old entrepreneur won a charity auction at Parliament’s Mid Winter Ball, that gave him the chance to play Anthony Albanese in tennis at the Lodge.

Part of the prize includes bringing three people along to spectate, and now Daoud is opening that up to the general public.

He’s launched a website where you can enter. He wants to know in 25 words or less what you’d ask the prime minister.

The winners will be announced on August 30.

Daoud is this week’s guest on 7NEWS podcast The Issue and reveals that he’s been in training for his match in Canberra, even hiring a coach.

“I can’t reveal the day. And the reason for that is we want to make sure the match does go ahead,” Daoud told The Issue.

“I’ve always been about helping the individuals across Australia, and there are a lot of individuals out there that would like to ask the Prime Minister a question.

“Obviously, we have to do our (security) checks.”

What would you ask? 

7NEWS asked random Australians what topic they’d raise with Anthony Albanese.

Answers included integrity, housing, musical theatre and the war in the Middle East.

The man running the competition says he’ll raise consumer confidence and the Federal Budget.

While Daoud was ok with changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax, he saw red over the tax hike on all asset classes such as shares, crypto and collectibles.

He argues a lack of transparency has hurt consumer confidence in Australia.

“A positive outcome would possibly be just more transparency when it comes to these budget changes,” Daoud says.

“I think consumer confidence comes a lot from messaging. I also believe that better consultancy needs to be done.”

Property market 

As a broker Daoud is on the front lines of the property market.

So far in 2026 the Reserve Bank of Australia has hiked the official cash rate three times to 4.35 per cent, and now the big banks are forecasting significant falls to property prices to end the year (especially in Sydney and Melbourne).

Daoud says his customers are changing their behaviour.

“We are seeing a rise in refinancing,” Daoud says.

“We’re seeing a lot more individuals be hesitant to want to draw down equity or try and purchase something else

“We even have lenders offering cashbacks again. we haven’t seen that since COVID.”
