Shane Warne’s son has shared a video sent to him by his father before the Australian cricket legend’s death.

Jackson, 27, posted the clip on Instagram to mark what would have been his dad’s 57th birthday.

The sporting icon died of a sudden heart attack from natural causes while on holiday in Thailand in 2022, an autopsy confirmed.

“Missing these updates, happy birthday Dad,” Jackson captioned the video.

The clip appears to show Warne on a golf course in Scotland, where he was reportedly attending the Alfred Dunhill golf championship at the time.

After retiring from international cricket, golf became one of Warne’s primary sporting pastimes and competitive outlets.

In the clip, Shane begins by describing his chilly surroundings.

“This is me rugged up. I’ve got a beanie. I’ve got about four different layers on. I’ve got a little snood that keeps my neck and that warm,” Warne said.

“I’ve got a vest, a jumper, and a thermal underneath there as well, to stay warm, because as I said it’s four degrees.”

Warne then tells his family how much he misses them and looks forward to seeing them in a week.

“I think I got six sleeps until I see you guys. Yay!” Warne said.

“I hope you had a good day and I’m missing and loving you lots. Let’s do this.”

Shane’s daughter Brooke commented on the clip: “These updates were the best, miss them so much.”

After news broke about Shane’s death, Jackson said he had lost his “best friend”.

“I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart. Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same,” Jackson said at the time.

“But I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what. You just wanted me to be happy, that’s it.”

Jackson airs true thought about dad’s death

Shane was honoured with a state funeral at the MCG, which was attended by tens of thousands of people, and watched by millions around the world.

Jackson was one of many speakers at the service, but later said he’d held back what he really wanted to say.

In April this year, Jackson spoke out about his true thoughts about his father’s passing, claiming the COVID vaccine contributed to his death.

Asked on the 2Worlds Collide podcast if “the COVID shot killed your dad”, Jackson didn’t hold back.

“I definitely think it was involved, and I don’t even think saying that is controversial anymore,” he claimed.

“Like, with the amount of data that’s come out, even if dad had underlying health issues, I think this brought it straight to the surface, and that’s one thing that I’ve always struggled with.

“Because my first impression as soon as I hung up the phone, I instantly blamed the government, I instantly blamed COVID and the vaccine.”

In the years since his father’s death, Jackson has championed the Shane Warne Legacy, which offers and encourages free health checks to all Australians.
