Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of murdering his carer at a southeast Queensland home.

The body of Brisbane singer and carer Velvet Crystal Sky Pesu, 46, was discovered on the back steps of a two‑storey property on Waterford Tamborine Rd at Buccan, southeast of Brisbane, about 2.30am on Monday.

Police had attended the home to conduct a welfare check after Pesu was reported missing from Ashgrove about 1am.

She had last been seen at The Gap around 7pm on Saturday after dropping a family member at a party.

The male resident and her client, 36‑year‑old Wael Abdallah Saleem Alfar, was not at the property when officers arrived, sparking an urgent manhunt.

Alfar — a mechanic originally from Sydney — was later arrested in Kempsey, on the NSW Mid North Coast, after his vehicle crashed into a culvert.

Police allege he had earlier led officers on a high‑speed pursuit from Coffs Harbour, reaching speeds of up to 200km/h, swerving around road spikes and driving at police, forcing officers to jump clear.

The pursuit allegedly spanned about 80km through Valla, Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Warrell Creek and Eungai Creek.

He was arrested and taken into custody on traffic matters.

Alfar faced court this week and was remanded in custody in NSW until February 25 for sentencing on those offences.

Queensland Police confirmed on Wednesday that an arrest warrant for murder has now been issued in relation to Pesu’s death.

“Once the NSW court matters are finalised, Queensland Police will seek his extradition back to Queensland,” police said in a statement.

Pesu, a mother and well‑known figure in Brisbane’s experimental music and visual arts community, had spent more than 26 years performing and creating.

She had recently appeared at the Korean Experimental Art Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Off Other Film Festival.

In a statement to 7NEWS, her daughter described her as courageous, kind and generous.

“She bought instruments for children in Zimbabwe to learn about their culture and acknowledge their music,” she said.

“She was amazing and we loved her a lot.”

Detective Acting Inspector Justin Anderson confirmed Pesu regularly visited Alfar in a professional capacity as his carer.

A post‑mortem examination will determine how Pesu died, with detectives confirming she was found with injuries at the scene.

Investigations remain ongoing.
