A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck on a freeway in regional Victoria.

The person was struck while walking on the Calder Fwy near the Midland Hwy overpass in Harcourt about 1.15pm on Friday.

They died before they could be taken to hospital.

Police say the truck driver stopped and was not injured.

“The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing,” Victoria Police said.

The Calder Fwy is closed at the Midland Hwy due to the incident.

Motorists have been told to use the Midland Hwy’s entry and exit ramps to avoid the closure.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information has been urged to come forward.
