A regional councillor has been criticised for posting insensitive comments on social media following a double fatal crash.
Two people in their 20s, the driver and the front-seat passenger, were killed after a car ploughed into a tree in Black Springs, outside of Oberon in western New South Wales, on Tuesday.
A man in his 50s who was sitting in the backseat was treated for leg injuries.

Hours after news of the accident broke, Oberon councillor Helen Hayden took to Facebook in a now deleted post claiming: “Black Springs will be quieter without roaring engines”.

Oberon Council says they are aware of the comments and that councillors are individually responsible for their personal views, but the comments made don’t reflect the views of council.
