Beloved actress Nicole Kidman had the perfect response when an audience member’s phone started ringing during a Sydney screening of Practical Magic 2.

Surprised fans were delighted and erupted into applause when smiling Kidman, dressed in a white gown embellished with floral detailing and her hair down in waves, walked into the Sydney advanced screening of the new film.

“How are you all? You’re all pretty quiet. We need more noise,” Kidman said to the crowd.

But suddenly, an audience member’s phone started ringing, breaking the cardinal rule of cinema etiquette: keeping your mobile on silent.

Kidman delivered a quick quip after the audience member broke the cardinal rule of cinema-going.

“Someone’s got their phone ringing. Should I answer it?” she joked while holding her hand to her ear in the shape of a phone.

“Is that Sandy?” Hi?” the screening host joked in reference to Kidman’s co-star Sandra Bullock.

Kidman said some of her family, including her daughter, had joined her to attend the screening.

When asked why Bullock and Kidman wanted to create a sequel to the iconic Practical Magic film which came out in 1998, the star said: “I think it was more the fans demanded it.”

“Hopefully you love it. I love you,” Kidman told the crowd.

The first Practical Magic is a a cult fantasy-romance about sisters Sally and Gillian Owens (Bullock and Kidman), who come from a long line of witches cursed so that any man they fall in love with is doomed to die.

The sequel reunites Bullock and Kidman as the Owens sisters nearly 30 years later. The story is set to shift focus to the next generation of the Owens family.
