The manager of Cameron Munster has revealed the PNG Chiefs are very interested in the Melbourne Storm superstar.

Player agent Braith Anasta has revealed that the Chiefs want Munster to join the club for the 2028 season, and the Storm have given the 31-year-old permission to chat to the cashed-up franchise.

“There is a level of interest from PNG,” Anasta said.

“We have been in constant communication with Melbourne and Melbourne have the greatest of respect for Cam.

“We have had some dialogue with PNG but remain completely open to Cameron finishing his career at Melbourne.”

The transfer window officially opens on November 1 but the Storm have allowed Munster to talk to the Chiefs before then .

Munster’s existing contract with the Storm expires at the end of 2027.

But Anasta insists both Munster and the Storm are open to a contract extension as well.

Munster, who turns 32 in September, is in rehab after having surgery on his knee due to a cartilage injury.

He is expected to be sidelined for at least 4-6 weeks.

Fellow NRL gun Jarome Luai has already confirmed his move to the PNG Chiefs in 2028.

But after that decision was made public, Luai was unexpectedly shown the door from the Tigers and will now spend next season at the Eels.

The Storm have endured a tough season this year, underlined by a neurodegenerative disorder diagnosis to coach Craig Bellamy.

They have also been smashed by injuries and their hopes of playing finals are hanging by a thread.

Since Bellamy took charge in 2003, the Storm have only missed finals once, when they were stripped of premiership points in 2010 for breaching the salary cap.
