One of the largest and most complete T-rex skeletons ever unearthed is going under the hammer in New York, with an eye-watering price tag that could shatter auction records.
Nicknamed Gus, the 67-million-year-old specimen has an estimated sale price of $43 million, which would make him the most expensive fossil ever sold.

The prehistoric giant measures an impressive 11 metres long from nose to tail, showcasing the sheer scale of one of history’s most fearsome predators.

Gus bears the scars of his ancient battles, with fractures and bite marks across his skeleton from fights with other predators millions of years ago. He was found in South Dakota and his remains excavated between 2021 and 2023.
The auction, conducted by Sotheby’s, is set to open on Tuesday, giving fossil enthusiasts and wealthy collectors their chance to own a piece of prehistoric history.
