A man has been arrested after an elderly woman was allegedly fatally stabbed at an apartment in Sydney’s east on Saturday.

According to police, emergency services were called to a unit on Chambers Avenue in Bondi Beach following reports of a stabbing.

Officers found a woman – aged in her 90s - with significant injuries. She was treated by paramedics, however, died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man was arrested and has been taken into custody.
