At first glance, they look like oysters, fried chicken, pizza and even baked beans. But take a closer look and you’ll discover they’re actually cake.

Award-winning cake artist Amber Comadira-Smith has built a huge following creating incredibly realistic edible illusions, turning sponge, fondant and icing into foods that are almost impossible to tell apart from the real thing.

The two-time Australian Cake Decorator of the Year put those creations to the test on The Morning Show, challenging the hosts to spot the difference between real food and cake while demonstrating some of the techniques behind her lifelike designs.

.casing her skills at this week’s Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair, where cake decorating and sugar art will feature at the event for the first time.
