Hyundai's new performance line to sit below its hot N models

A new performance lineup will soon launch to sit below the Hyundai N range.

Announced at the company’s 2026 Investor Day, the as-yet-unnamed performance tier will sit between N and N Line models and will target high-volume sales.

According to Hyundai, the vehicles will combine “value features for daily high-performance experience,” but will borrow engines, gearboxes, and other componentry from N models.

The new vehicles are expected to be road-focused, rather than being designed for the track.

"And we're adding something between N and N Line – a new volume high-performance variant carrying over powertrains and parts from N," said Hyundai CEO and President, José Muñoz.

There are currently five Hyundai N models on sale around the world, equating to around 20,000 sales in 2025, while 12 models with N Line specification contributed an additional 161,000 sales.

N Line models currently range from vehicles adding an interior and exterior styling package, through to vehicles with more powerful engines.

It’s believed the new N-Lite lineup will bridge that gap, as well as provide an opportunity for younger buyers to get into sportier vehicles – but at a lower price point.

The strategy could win Hyundai a new generation of fans.
