Hundreds of Sydneysiders have gathered at Bondi Beach this morning to pay tribute to 12-year-old Nico Antic, who died after being mauled by a shark near Vaucluse.
The massive turnout included members of the North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club where Nico was a nipper, teammates from his football club, and students from his school community, all united in remembering the young boy.
Nico became the first person to die from a shark attack in Sydney Harbour in more than 60 years, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit coastal community.

His parents were present at the emotional gathering, sharing embraces with the many people whose lives were touched by their son.
The community took part in a special paddle out ceremony, where mourners ventured into the ocean together in Nico’s memory.
