Human remains have been found in the Goulburn River more than six weeks after a kayaker vanished in fast-moving water.
Police confirmed the discovery on Sunday, with officers retrieving the remains in the water off Ghin Ghin Rd in Ghin Ghin.
“The yet to be formally identified remains are at this stage believed to be those of a 53-year-old man, who went missing while kayaking in the Goulburn River on 18 July,” police said.

The man’s kayak overturned about 10.50am more than a month ago and another person on the riverbank raised the alarm.
A multi‑agency search began to find the man, with crews scouring the river and bushland in the area.
That search involved the Water Police, SES, police divers, search and rescue and a police drone.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
