Let’s be clear with what Trump is doing by changing names or adding his own name to whatever he wants is considered extreme narcissism, some psychologists would consider it ‘malignant narcissist personal disorder’ adding to the fact that he is also a psychopath.

However, renaming internationally recognized bodies of water, states, institutions such as the Kennedy Center and so on, is about leaving a legacy that recognizes Trump as the “greatest” president in US history.

However, in all fairness to Trump, the Democrats are just as guilty for changing names or tearing down historical statues that reminded people of racism and slavery to changing street names to their liking back in 2020.

With that said, as of today, Trump has renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and now changing the name of ‘Lake Ontario’ to “Lake America” and now, Trump is suggesting that he will change the name of the state of New Mexico to “New America.” The Hill reported that

“Trump wrote later Sunday evening, “Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA. So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!”

As for Lake Ontario, it is an Indigenous word that actually means the “lake of shining waters” or “beautiful lake”given by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy also known as the Iroquois Confederacy (the Six Nations)located in northeastern part of North America.

The Gulf of Mexico was given that name in 1550 and is recognized by The International Hydrographic Organization and other international organizations. However, one of Trump’s first order of business as soon as he entered the Whitehouse was not an attempt to bringing peace to the world or to fix the US economy as he claimed in his campaigns, instead he chose to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Why? Maybe to convince himself and his MAGA cult that he had the courage to change the name of a body of water to which the MAGA cult would say that he is the only president with “guts” to do such a thing.

Trump wants to leave behind a legacy so that the day he goes to hell (Trump admits himself that he is not going to heaven), that he will be somehow remembered. He wants to say to himself and to his cult members,

“I did that, I changed the name, nobody could do the things I do, I am the Greatest President in World history,” you may laugh, but that is what he is most likely thinking to himself.

Trump is a malignant narcissist; any certified psychologist can see that from a mile away.

USA Today had published an opinion piece by Ingrid Jacques that signifies that changing names really does not mean anything, ‘Trump renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America. So what?’ Jacques said that,

“President Donald Trump recently renamed Lake Ontario “Lake America.” Who cares? Honestly, most Americans probably don’t. Unless you live on its shores, I’d be shocked if you could even point to it on a map, given how ignorant most Americans are of geography.” 

That’s a good point. 

“But it’s Trump who issued the Aug. 27 executive order, so expect the left’s usual outrage – the same reaction we saw when Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” on day one of his second term. Or when he tried to put his name on the Kennedy Center. Or any of the other times he’s stamped his likeness on something.” 

Jacques also mentioned how the Democrats basically did the same thing, yet when Trump does it, it’s bad. It is just plain hypocrisy. Besides it was the Democrats who basically started renaming places back in 2015 under the Obama regime. 

“And let’s be honest. Democrats are fine with change they sanction. Recall in 2020 when historical statues were ripped down at a fevered pace? And names change all the time, from street names to mountains to the Great Lakes. When former President Barack Obama renamed Alaska’s Mount McKinley to Denali in 2015, liberals seemed just fine with it” she continued, “When Trump does it, he’s a “toddler,” according to Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.”   

What should be known about both sides of the political spectrum is that Executive Orders can be canceled or overturned by a new incoming president, 

“Unlike laws, though, executive orders are easy to overturn – as Trump himself proved on day one, retracting much of what Biden had done. Liberals can take comfort in that” she continued, “For everyone else wringing their hands over Lake America, take comfort in Shakespeare. “What’s in a name?” Juliet asks in “Romeo and Juliet.” She loves her star-crossed beloved not for his name, but for who he is.”

A name is just a name, but the problem is Big Tech corporations such as Apple and Google siding with Trump’s executive orders in helping him change those names. According to Newsmax, a media network that should be called ‘Trump’s official state propaganda network’ said the following:

Apple changed the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America” on the web version of its Apple Maps following President Donald Trump’s executive order renaming the lake. The move by Apple on Tuesday followed a decision by Alphabet late on Saturday to change the name ‌of the lake on its Google Maps for U.S. users. Apple confirmed that ​U.S. users will see “Lake America” following a change to the body of water’s name in the U.S. Geographic Names Information System  

who already believe that Trump did the right thing by renaming the bodies of water recognizing the US as somehow, the owners of both the ‘Gulf of Mexico and ‘Lake Ontario. 

“The name changes illustrate how U.S. tech companies are being pulled into geopolitical disputes as the Trump administration pressures them to comply with ‌executive orders that allies and international bodies have rejected” continued, “Trump’s executive order on ​Lake Ontario, one ‌of the five Great Lakes of North America, applies to U.S. federal usage for the lake, and does not govern ‌what Canada, international bodies or other organizations call the lake.”

The “Gulf of America” and “Lake America” is only recognized in the US by a particular group of people namely, MAGA.  No one outside of the United States recognizes the name changes. I myself recently bought a new rotating globe for my living room and the Gulf of Mexico was still the name of that particular body of water between Mexico and the United States.

So whatever name changes Trump imposes by Executive Order on any body of water, on any place or on anything else, it’s to satisfy his ego and his MAGA cult following, it does not mean anything, it’s just a name that can be changed at any given moment. Whatever happens to Trump in the near future, his name and statues or whatever else is associated with the Trump name will be removed by the incoming Democratic party that’s expected to sweep the mid-term elections that will be replaced with new names throughout the continental US, that is a guaranteed.
