Hundreds of students have been evacuated as police raced to a Western Sydney school.

Police told 7NEWScom.au that an operation is underway after receiving reports from Cabramatta High School about 8.30am on Monday.

The 7NEWS helicopter captured hundreds of students gathering at a sports field on the school’s grounds.

Several police cars, including the Dog Squad, were also seen outside the school.

NSW Police later confirmed that the incident was caused by a bomb hoax.
