An NDIS support worker has had his identity revealed after appearing in court on allegations he abused a woman in his care on several occasions.

Brett Trevor Luscombe, 55, made his first appearance in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday after being charged with exploiting a woman with a disability.

Luscombe, 55, who lives in Richmond in Adelaide’s inner west, is facing four counts of sexually exploiting a person with a cognitive impairment.

Police allege Luscombe used his influence as a carer to obtain consent for either sexual intercourse or indecent contact.

The offence is designed to protect people who rely on support workers for daily care and decision‑making.

Police allege the offending occurred on four separate occasions between February and April this year at an NDIS‑approved supportive care facility in Adelaide’s western suburbs — a site that promotes professional, well‑trained staff according to their website.

Prosecutors have requested a lengthy adjournment to gather digital, forensic and DNA evidence, including data from Luscombe’s mobile phone and electronic devices.

He remains on bail but is banned from contacting the alleged victim or going within 50 metres of the facility.

The organisation has confirmed he was sacked as soon as the allegations surfaced.

Under South Australian legislation, the offence carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.

Luscombe will return to court in March next year and has been remanded on continuing bail with strict conditions.
