The facelifted Toyota Tundra has been revealed in the US, with updates including components from Australia's Old Man Emu and upgraded interior technology – but its arrival in local showrooms has yet to be confirmed.

The slowest-selling of Australia's 'big four' full-size pickups year-to-date – a group that also includes the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 – the Tundra receives a mild visual refresh for the 2027 model year, with full details and pricing yet to announced.

Toyota's Michigan-based design studio has given the pickup what it describes as "a more modern and purpose-driven front-end treatment", with a squarer look, a new hexagonal grille and a redesigned front bumper incorporating rectangular fog lights.

Inside, all US models now feature a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, already standard on Australian-delivered Tundras, which now runs Toyota's latest infotainment system introduced locally with the new-generation RAV4.

Also making its Australian debut in the new RAV4 is Toyota's Drive Recorder Dash Cam, which joins the Tundra range for MY27. It automatically records 20-second clips when it detects an event, such as a potential collision or other incident, though it can also be switched off.

An Enhanced Digital Key is also available, allowing owners to access the vehicle via the Toyota smartphone app.

No changes have been announced for the hybrid powertrain offered in Australian models, which pairs a 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine with an electric motor for combined outputs of 326kW and 790Nm, driving all four wheels.

While the Australian lineup is limited to the Limited and Platinum grades, US buyers now have seven variants to choose from following the addition of the new Tundra Trailhunter.

Based on the Tundra SR5 – which sits below the Limited and Platinum sold here – the Trailhunter adds Michelin LTX Trail tyres, bronze-finished alloy wheels and upgraded suspension from Old Man Emu, the ARB-owned Australian off-road brand.

Toyota hasn't detailed the suspension changes, but says the Trailhunter also features recovery hooks, additional underbody protection, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential as standard.

Toyota Australia told CarExpert it had no news to share on when the MY27 Tundra will arrive locally, or whether the Trailhunter variant is under consideration for Australia.

While Australian Tundra sales increased 45 per cent during the first half of 2026, the updated Ford F-150 – despite remaining a MY24 vehicle – has overtaken both the Toyota and V8-powered Chevrolet Silverado. The Ram 1500 continues to lead the segment.

All four of these vehicles are imported in left-hand drive and then remanufactured locally in right-hand drive.
