The Nissan Qashqai received substantial revisions for 2026, and these have now been followed up by a smaller model year 2026.5 (MY26.5) update.

This latest update sees the discontinuation of the flagship N-Design, with all other variants receiving a $210 price increase.

The base ST-L, added for 2026, has lost its wireless phone charger and power driver’s seat lumbar adjustment for MY26.5, while its front passenger seat now has only manual four-way instead of six-way adjustment.

The mid-range Ti has gained black 19-inch alloy wheels but lost adaptive LED headlights and dynamic front and rear indicators, while its steering wheel is now wrapped in leatherette instead of leather.

The Ti-L has also followed its cheaper sibling in losing adaptive LED headlights, dynamic front indicators, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, but has gained the defunct N-Design’s 20-inch alloy wheels.

Nissan moved to a hybrid-only lineup for the Qashqai for 2026, coinciding with the introduction of the brand’s upgraded e-Power drivetrain. This saw the base price jump by more than $10,000 despite the introduction of the new base ST-L e-Power.

Prices across the rest of the range were also increased by up to $2475, apart from the N-Design which fell by $225.

The introduction of the new e-Power drivetrain saw combined fuel consumption for the Qashqai lowered from 4.8 to 4.1L/100km, and CO2 emissions reduced by nearly 18 per cent to 92g/km.

Improvements were also made to the Qashqai’s driver assistance technology suite (now dubbed ProPILOT+), which now includes the ability to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes, offering improved lane-keep assist functionality, as well as updated display graphics.

Following the axing of the Juke and petrol-powered Qashqai variants, the larger X-Trail mid-size SUV is now Nissan’s most affordable model in Australia. It’s priced from $38,305 before on-road costs in petrol-powered ST guise.

Drivetrains and Efficiency

All Nissan Qashqais in Australia feature an e-Power series-hybrid powertrain, with a small petrol engine serving as a generator instead of sending drive directly to the wheels. Instead, a front-mounted electric motor sends drive to the road.

The small SUV uses MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension.

Dimensions

The Qashqai is among the larger models in the small SUV segment.

Servicing and Warranty

The Nissan Qashqai is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, extended to 10-year/300,000km coverage if you service within the brand’s dealer network. Continue to do so, and roadside assistance coverage will also be extended to a maximum of 10 years or 300,000km.

The first five services are capped at $399 each, with servicing required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

Safety

The Nissan Qashqai has a four-star rating from independent safety authority ANCAP, based on testing conducted in 2025.
